Francisco Marcet

Francisco Marcet is a Commercial Engineer from Universidad de Chile. He also holds a Master's and a Ph.D. in Finance from Washington University, Olin Business School (USA). He is an assistant professor of finance at FEN-UChile.

Before leaving to pursue his doctorate, Dr. Marcet was an economic analyst in the research department of EuroAmerica and later an external consultant at the same financial institution. During his doctorate he specialized in Corporate Finance and was a teaching assistant for the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) course in the Olin Business School MBA.

He conducts applied research across several areas of corporate finance: financing and investment decisions, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and ESG. His work has been published in leading finance journals such as Management Science, Journal of Corporate Finance and Journal of Banking and Finance. He has taught corporate finance and investments in undergraduate, master's, MBA and doctoral programs.

Professionally, he has worked as an economist in the research department of EuroAmerica and as an external consultant on economic and financial matters, covering short and long term macroeconomic forecasting, pension fund portfolio analysis, programming in R and Matlab for portfolio optimization, and analysis of sell-side analyst forecasts.
